Participants will sample some of Guyana’s eco-tourism during the Hackathon, but there’s plenty more to see in English-speaking Guyana and en route back home. We can suggest additional itineraries you can book yourself, or recommend a tour operator to arrange your trip.

Kaieteur Falls is the world’s tallest single drop waterfall: it’s four times taller than Niagara Falls in North America and twice as tall as the Victoria falls in Africa. Nestled in Kaieteur National Park, the falls eventually flow into the Essequibo River that runs through the Rupununi region. The falls are accessible as a day trip from Georgetown.

Panama City is a common layover between the US west coast and Georgetown, and a vibrant destination in its own right. The city has several UNESCO world heritage sites (including the Casco Antiguo district from the 1600s), murals, dynamic cuisine, and vibrant nightlife. Visit the Panama Canal, explore the coral reefs around the Pearl Islands, or, if you haven’t had your fill of jungle, trek through one of many nearby national parks.
